Melbourne: Our village is located on the fringes of the Vale of York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Acorn Glade is only a short walk (0.5 miles away). It has a local pub called The Melbourne Arms, serving traditional pub food and beer. Its always best to call ahead to book a table for dinner.

Wolds gliding Club Pocklington Adventures to be had

The Wolds Gliding Club:

We are approx 30 mins away from York Racecourse, the UK's third largest horse racing venue.

This is a real hidden gem (described as a mini-York) and a firm favourite with our guests. Beverley is  ideally located 30 minutes from us with its Minster, Saturday market, plus great array of  shops & restaurants.

Allerthorpe Lakes & Woods:

For outdoor pursuits why not head for Allerthorpe Lakes is set in 53 acres with a cafe and only 2 miles from us. Alternatively stroll through the nearby Allerthorpe Woods & Country Park (a SSSI).

Castle Howard A place to explore while staying at Acorn Glade

Castle Howard

The Castle Howard old stately home is only 25 miles north of York. It is a private residence of the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for over 300 years. It was the set for the 1980's drama Brideshead Revisited.

We are  less than an hour from the rejuventated city of Hull (the former UK City of Culture). Wonder around the Marina or the Old Town, steeped in maritime history or visit The Deep famous aquarium with 3,500 fish.

Pocklington:  Our nearest town is located only 6 miles away with a small Tuesday market. Enjoy a range of unique shops, pubs and good  restaurants. Supermarkets such as Sainsburys & Aldi are here, along with famous Burnby Hall Gardens.
